Pumpkin Chai
Fall is here and in full swing! What better way to enjoy the most perfect fall day than with a chai! Now that fall is here, the pumpkin cold foam has made its annual appearance!
This is my daily go to recipe for an iced chai that tastes better than Starbucks. I got real tired of paying $6-$9 for one of these and having to wait for delivery or go out of my way to get one in store. Now I make them from the comfort of my kitchen and for a fraction of the price.
You can use your milk of choice, I use 2%. The Tazo brand is my favorite brand of chai. I find some chai taste too “spiced” for me, Tazo works very well. You can heat up the tea concentrate or use it chilled. If you’re old school, you can buy the tea bags and brew it yourself. I’m a working woman who does not have the time to brew a whole batch to keep up with how much I drink these, so the carton works with my lifestyle.
There are also many flavors of cold foam! I have my fridge stocked with Sweet & Creamy and Pumpkin. You can totally make the drink without the cold foam, but like why would you skip on the best part lol. Adding the cold foam makes the drink creamy and delicious, especially the pumpkin.
Order of Operations
I am a little particular as to how I make my chais in regards to the order in which I add the ingredient. It makes a difference in the experience and texture of the drink so this is my perfected method.
General ratio you want is 1:1 milk/cream and chai. The creamer and the milk together should make roughly half the drink.
I start with a glass of ice, roughly 3/4 of the way full. Then I’ll add some cold foam, then milk to allow the cold foam to drip between the ice. Once the glass is just under half way full of cold foam and milk, I add in the chai. Shake well and pour carefully, leaving room to top it off with a bit more cold foam and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
