Sisterwives đź’ˇ Let There Be Light

Today Sunday September 22 2024 marks the second episode of season nineteen of Sisterwives, Let There Be Light. If you follow any of the Brown family on social media, you will know today Janelle, Maddie and Caleb announced their new flower farm, Taeda farms! This is a passion project between the three of them, something Janelle has been talking about for a while. Her original plans were to potentially build a greenhouse of some sort on the property on Coyote Pass. This seems like a much more rewarding experience for Janelle. You can check out their flower farm and follow their journey here at taedafarms.com

Tonight’s episode opens Ysabel being officially moved to Salt Lake City and Madison is six months pregnant. Christine mentions that Maddie and Caleb were looking at property and the plans were that if they bought property and moved, Janelle would move with them.

“My leaving didn’t change his kids’ relationship with him”
— Christine

Janelle says her relationship with Kody is over, they are not in communication and that they both still currently live in Flagstaff.

“I don’t know if I really want to be next door neighbors with them”
— Janelle

During a driver with Maddie and Janelle are talking about Coyote pass and paying off the note that is due in six months mentioning Kody does not communicate with her at all. Janelle says “I’m sure your dad will want to pay that off….right…?” Maddie’s facial expression says everything.

When talking about assets and property ownership, Janelle says Christine had her house, Robyn has her house still, Meri has built a business on her own dime. Coyote pass is the only asset they have from the marriage. The seller carrying the loan can take back the entire property if not paid back by the deadline in the next six months.

Kody states he does not trust Janelle anymore and refuses to share information about paying off Coyote Pass. Meri states she has no plan to build on the property either.

Janelle mentions she would like to obtain some of the money back that she invested in Robyn’s house due to wanting what is fair. When they were putting money down for Robyn’s house, Janelle says she wanted to put everyone’s name on the mortgage and Kody refused stating he needed to protect Robyn’s estate.

“The whole plan at that point, was for that home, my home, to be kind of an asset for the family”
— Robyn

This is the first season we really dive into finances and ownership. Janelle and Christine both state how they always saw Kody and Robyn buying assets such as trailers, art work, etc. Robyn states she’s just very good at budgeting.

Janelle says Kody was the one who cut communications when the family was dissolving and says grandkids Evie K and Axel do not know their grandpa. Robyn says its a two way street and Kody says he was tired of speaking with Maddie because he felt she would only fish for gossip.

“It was my club and I got kicked out of it”
— Kody

Janelle and Christine visit to chat about where they are with life. Janelle is really envisioning living a homestead life and says Kody has always been more of a city boy. She is seeing the possibilities of having that simple country life in a place other than Flagstaff.

Christine bluntly asks if Janelle’s relationship with Kody is over and if she has told Kody. Janelle says Kody has been brushing off talking to her about the land so they have not officially had that conversation yet. Christine gets pushy urging her to have that conversation.

Faith

Christine no longer believes in the religion, Janelle still does believe in her faith. It would appear that Meri and Robyn still believe as well. Kody says he does not want to disparage his former faith, but wont “buy their BS” which is very interesting. He says Meri told him she would be going to their church to request a release from their marriage.

“Karma’s a bitch”
— Meri

For those who do not know, in this religion you must have 3 wives to enter the celestial kingdom in the afterlife. Due to Christine leaving and despite Kody not having a physical or romantic relationship with the other women, they were still technically married and considered wives. Which means they still secured their spot in the celestial kingdom with their own planet, tied together for eternity. By Meri requesting this release, it shatters any chance of that, given the church approves the request.

This issue with this is that Kody does not care, in fact he is relieved. He says it took forever for Meri to realize the relationship has been done for years. Meri says she’s been in limbo for the last decade about their relationship.

Kody speaks on the relationship dynamics early on, stating that when he and Meri first married, they lacked wisdom and did not know each other well. Meri had baggage that Kody says manifested into constant anger; when Janelle entered the family that diluted the hostility between them, but created problems between Janelle and Meri. Enter Christine, same situation. Kody admits he was never going to leave them no matter how much he didn’t love them.
