New Year, New Me
Happy New Year!! I hope 2026 is going well for anyone reading this. This year we tried a new fun NYE tradition where we threw lentils on our heads once the clock struck midnight. We went outside to do it to keep the mess outside, but we definitely were sweeping up lentils that we unintentionally brought inside. It was a beautiful holiday, standing outside in the rain, fireworks going off all around us, tossing lentils on one another and manifesting a wonderful new year of health, happiness and adventures.
I’ve been making good on my new year habits and goals so far. I’ve worked out and got some form of physical exercise in every single day. My goal is to keep my body moving and in motion, also focusing on flexibility and muscle gain. I am also trying to tone and lose just a bit of weight so I have a food tracker (stay tuned because I will be sharing it soon!) to track my micros and macros. I had some health issues last year so I need to regulate my nutrition prioritize my health.
A creative goal of mine is to go through all of my yarn I have, so I have given myself the quota of crocheting at least 1 granny square a day or work on a specific crochet project to chip away at my yarn stash. Granny squares are so versatile, you can make anything with them! I may have gifts for Christmas time or perhaps stitch them together for a nice scarf, blanket or cardigan.
I have been learning languages consistently too! I use Duolingo and I’m learning Spanish, Italian, German and even learning how to play chess! That little green owl keeps me going with quick lessons and productivity incentives which work for me. I also would like to get back to learning ASL (American Sign Language), I’ve taken some classes in the past and really enjoyed it.
Another creative goal I have for myself is drawing something every day. Whether it is an art study, sketch, full piece, pencil drawing, ink, digital art, painting, it does not matter! As long as I work on some sort of artistic project everyday to keep the skill polished and continually be producing art. I originally started my whole channel to be an art and lifestyle page, I’ve noticed the last few years I’ve focused more on lifestyle and recipes, so I’m incorporating more art this year.
Content creation is so much fun and it’s genuinely what I have wanted to do for so long. Posting to social media is the part I struggle with! Figuring out the right times to post, the right apps to post, the right hashtags, getting engagement…all of this can be daunting and very overwhelming when my albums are full of unedited content waiting to be posted. I am trying to go day by day and just post it. Even if it’s messy, even if it’s late, even if it wasn’t what I intended on posting that day, just post it. And once I am done with the day, I can start planning tomorrow’s post, and so on. My goal is to not be overwhelmed, not worry about it so much, and just actually post consistently. As long as YOU like what kind of content you post, others will too! Your vibe attracts your tribe so just stay true to who you are, never stop growing and your people will find you.
I think it’s very important to be balanced in all aspects of life. Keeping your mind sharp is just as important as staying physically fit and spiritually aligned. Of course I have other goals and priorities not listed here, but I’ve been doing pretty good at hitting my marks! My main goal is growth and self care this year, so I feel like I am just pampering myself and it’s lovely. I hope you all achieve your goals going into this second week of the year!! Happy living!!
